Your Southern Tanzania safari adventure begins with your arrival in Dar es Salaam, where you will be met and welcomed by your professional safari representative.
After a warm welcome, you will receive a detailed briefing about the exciting journey ahead through two of Tanzania’s remarkable wilderness areas – Nyerere National Park and Mikumi National Park.
This day is designed for arrival, preparation, and relaxation. You will have the opportunity to review the safari logistics, travel arrangements, and activities planned for the coming days. Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at your hotel and prepare for your early departure the following morning.

After an early breakfast, depart from Dar es Salaam and begin your approximately 4-5-hour journey towards Nyerere National Park.
Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch before taking some time to relax and settle into the peaceful surroundings of the park.
Later in the afternoon, embark on a spectacular sunset boat safari along the Rufiji River. Cruise through the waterways as you observe hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species in their natural habitat.
As the sun begins to set over the river, enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and stunning scenery of this unique water-based ecosystem – a wonderful introduction to the wilderness of Nyerere National Park.

Rise early for a morning game drive, taking advantage of the cooler hours when wildlife is often at its most active.
Explore the diverse landscapes of Nyerere National Park, travelling through woodland, open areas, and wetland habitats in search of the park’s remarkable wildlife. Keep your eyes open for elephants, lions, giraffes, wild dogs, and numerous other species that call this vast wilderness home.
Return to the lodge for lunch and some time to relax before heading out again in the afternoon for further wildlife exploration.
The afternoon safari offers another opportunity to discover the park’s wetlands and woodland areas, with your experienced guide sharing insights into the wildlife and ecosystem.
Optional: A night game drive may be available, offering an opportunity to experience the park after dark and discover some of its nocturnal wildlife.

After breakfast, depart Nyerere National Park and continue your journey towards Mikumi National Park, approximately 4-5 hours away.
Upon arrival in Mikumi, check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch before preparing for an exciting afternoon experience.
Later, embark on a guided walking safari accompanied by a trained ranger. This intimate experience allows you to explore the wilderness at a slower pace and gain a deeper understanding of the surrounding ecosystem.
Learn about animal tracks, vegetation, insects, smaller wildlife, and other fascinating details that can often be overlooked during a traditional vehicle-based game drive.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner, relaxation, and overnight.

Today is dedicated to a full-day exploration of Mikumi National Park.
After breakfast, set out with your experienced safari guide for a full-day game drive through the park’s wildlife-rich landscapes. Explore notable areas including the Hippo Pools and Mkata Floodplain, where the open plains provide excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing.
Throughout the day, look out for lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, and a variety of antelope species. The diverse scenery and abundant wildlife make every stretch of the drive an opportunity for discovery.
Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park, allowing you to remain surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness while continuing your wildlife experience.
Later in the afternoon, begin your return journey to the lodge. Enjoy the evening at leisure, relaxing at the property or participating in an additional activity if available.

After breakfast, enjoy your final moments in the peaceful surroundings of Mikumi before beginning your journey back to Dar es Salaam.
Travel approximately 4-5 hours towards the city, with optional stops along the way depending on your schedule and interests.
Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, proceed to your departure point for your onward journey, bringing your Southern Tanzania safari adventure to an end.
